I've been playing this game off & on since 1997. THAT WAS BEFORE THE TURN OF THE CENTURY. Holy crap. Back then, I had a 28.8kbps modem and a crappy 486 laptop in college. This was the first multiplayer game that kept me up until 4am. MUDs and MOOs only got me to 3am. But this... this was something. Still is.

Oh, and I'm still terrible at it.

Yep! I played a lot in the mid-to-late 90s. Actually did pretty great from time to time. I remember the ability to send a pre-loaded 3-second sound file to another player. That was fun. :D You could do it to taunt, or just for fun with friends. It was innovative back then.

But yeah, MU*s, I have spent even more time with. I think they encourage even more creativity. Glad to see thousands of MUDs, MOOs, MUSHs, etc., are still around, and growing. I'd argue they are even better that all the games I play, because they encourage thinking, imagination, etc.

But that's just my view as a guy who is just in his mid-30s. :-P

Yeah, totally 28.8kbps. Couldn't even dream of mbps at that time

Think you might mean 28.8kbps if you are talking 1997.
