Visit The Tech Throwdown's profileI bought this gane only a couple days ago, but it has totally immersed me. All other products I have bought during the steam sale have been put on hold because of this one. This free to play FPS MMO has the typical mission/grind/pvp feel that I love about MMO's, but without the $15 a month fee. The graphics are decent, not ground-breaking, but pleasuring to the eye. There are 4 class types, each with 3 specializations, giving you 12 seperate play styles to pick from. During the introduction to the game (about 35 minutes of single player missions) each player recieves both a gun and a sword, and heres the kicker, a jetpack. Thats right, you start off the game with a F*#$ing jetpack. No waiting till level 40 for fast travel anymore! The controls for flying are smooth, and combat, although sluggish at times, seems pretty easy to master. Definitely enjoyable for its $15 one time price (get it while its still on sale!)
I have started playing this again recently when I heard the news of the developer who gave his life to save his family. Even years after release this is still one of the best RTS games I have ever played. The combat is intense (especially with headphones turned way up) and the calm before the storm can be invigorating. The ability to build your own defenses at strategic points makes me want to replay each level to get it perfect. The multiplayer is fun, although don't plan on playing it often as servers can hard to find. Luckily the skirmish mode is a lot of fun with AI allies. I would recommend this to any RTS fans who haven't been burnt out on the WWII genre.
