A wonderful stand-alone experience by Zeboyd Games, PA's OTRSPoD 3 is a blast to the past, playing much like a long-lost SNES RPG you never got around to playing. Job system, creative enemies, hilarious dialogue, and lightning-quick gameplay make the game very easy to pick up and play, but don't be suprised if a few play sessions go well-on into the night.

There's quite a few free-to-play MMO titles on Steam, and even more flooding the market as a whole, but Lord of the Rings Online isn't just the best f2p offering, it's one of the best MMOs on the market, period.

It was my Game of the Year for 2011, and it's a stellar return-to-form for a franchise that helped invent modern gaming mentality. A blast to play, and while the boss fights are medicore at best, it doesn't take away from the scope of what is accomplished.
