This game is to C.O.D. what Adult Swim is to The Simpsons.

If this makes sense to you then you DESERVE to own this game.

It's a Buck. What else are you gonna buy for a buck? A Candy bar? You'll get FAT. A Soda pop? You'll get FAT. A Cheeseburger? You'll get FAT. Don't get FAT, get this instead.

Divinity Original Sin is a game for those of us who fondly remember old CRPGs such as Planescape: Torment, The Ultima series ( NOT 9!!!) and the old Gold Box D&D games, and heck even Bard's Tales 1-3 ( Not the hysterical remake ).

I must admit that as an older gamer I was salavating at the chance to play a no training wheels hold your hands and powder your bottom style old school RPG. Sadly that's just what I got. Now let me expand upon this before people think I don't like the game.

First off let me just say that D:OS is likely the best isometric PC RPG made since Planescape Torment. In fact I prefer it to Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, which is saying a lot since My name is in the credits of those two great games. However having said all that, the new era of gaming has poisened my mind. For anyone who has played the Witcher series or Dragon Age origins your in for a big surprise. Namely you going to be surprised at just how much those other games hold you hands and pat you on the back. D:OS is a HARDCORE CRPG. Most likely you will end up with several profiles once you learn how everything workls. Technically any class combo will work, however your going to learn through trial and error what works for your playstyle and what doesn't.

This game is fantastic if and only if you have the patience and mindset to play a game that harkons back to the 1980's - 1990's style of CRPGs. If your looking for a diablo, sacred, divine divinty style game TURN BACK NOW. Those games are for hyper people where as this game is more akin to playing Chess while reading a Fantasy Novel at the same time.

Here is where things get weird. I've been playing The Witcher 2 Ass of kings lately and after playing D:OS I can say this :

I have more fun playing TW2AoK.

I think D:OS is a better game.

???

See what I mean. D:OS despite what I just said IS fun to play, very much so. It's just a different type of fun. Kind of like this : D:OS is like Final Fantasy Tactics + Disgaea + Planescape Torment. It's a Strategy RPG as much as it is a CRPG. Baldur's gate was just a CRPG since any strategy you had was destroyed thanks to bad pathing as a result of that game being psuedo turn based with invisible dice rolls wrapped up in what appeared to be real time. D:OS however is TURN BASED as in you take turns and time stops while your turn is decided. Much like FFT and Disgaea.

Should you buy this game? I . . . .Don't . . . . . Know. . . . .?

Sadly I think a lot of people who think they enjoy this type of game will confuse this game with Baldur's Gate where as this game plays more like Fallout 1 & 2 only slower and better.

Early Access Review
This is the Little Big Planet of Hack and Slash RPGs. Do not expect torchlight or diablo or titan quest or any of the other AAA hack and slash games with this one. What you get is a quirky art style and a ton of bite sized adventures. ( Campaigns are incoming and will likely link together two or more adventures ).

The main reason to get this game is the fact that the ACK ( Adventure Creation kit ) allows you to design and create a variety of adventures ranging from simple 1 room arena battles to complex dungeons with puzzles, switche,s traps, platforming, and locked doors that require you to get a color coded key - ( Doom anyone? ).

I've only had this game for two days but have already created and published 3 adventures.

If you want a hack and slash game that looks overly simple but has suprising depth and limitless content, pick this up.

If you want to create short engaging little adventures that range from 5 minutes of gameplay to 30 minutes of gameplay pick this up. The ACK is the easiest to use editor I have ever used.

Oh I almost forgot that unlike most games, this one has a BOSS DRAGON that you need to earn scrolls to be able to teleport to the Dragon's Lair and try and defeat him. He has persistent health and this is a must considering he has 1,000,000 health and the firs titme I fought him I managed to deal 50 damage total with 3 lives. Second time I dealt 650 and that was after levelling up for hours!

This game is amazing. I don't really know how to explain why. It's like Castlevania only smoother and much more fun. The combat is exciting, fast paced and quite honestly amazing. It rivals any side scrolling metroidvania game I have ever played.

It feels like a big budget $60 console game not a $15 indie PC title. I got it for free in a raffle held by the guy who shattered the world record in the games insanely challenging hardest mode. I watched his Twitch stream of him doing it and it was utterly amazing how fluid, quick paced and visceral the gameplay was.

If your on the fence, consider this review a brick to the head knocking you off the fence and into the BUY NOW side.

Thanks to mods the game looks great with mods, the glitches and bugs are 99.9% fixed, and you can craft and find items that make the vanilla gear look like crap.

All TES games are bug ridden messes with mediocre textures.

Thankfully the mod community are better developers then the hacks at Bethesda and thus TES games on PC are worth your time. Console gamers sadly are stuck with gimped games made by overpayed hacks =(
