Secrets of Raetikon isn't a fantastic game, but it's a pretty game with an interesting no-hand-holding free-form aesthetic. You get to fly around in the world they created and figure out what you want to do. There's isn't choice: you do the things that progress the "story" or you don't. But how you interact with the creatures in the world (or more specifically, how you exact your revenge on them) is the story you create. The closest exception is the end. I didn't like the ending very much, but maybe I would have liked it more if I'd just walked away earlier.

The game has encrypted messages that probably convey more of the story. I didn't read many of them. By the end of the game I could read them like a child learns to read and that was an interesting experience, but I didn't desire to go around and find every one. In some ways, I feel like that's the key to the Raetikon experience: you don't need to do everything; you can just spend some time finding out the Secrets of Raetikon.
