If you like things that are awesome, then you will like this game.
This game is tower defense polished to a blindingly high sheen. The 8-bit artwork gives the unyielding hordes lots of charm and it looks great at high resolutions. The gameplay is fantastic, having been fine tuned during an extended beta that has seen many changes to the game.
It's a hell of a lot of fun, and between the lengthy campaign and other game modes, you'll have no problem spending hours and hours defending your base against the nefarious space monsters.
Finally ported to PC, this game is a blast. Giant zombie armies? Battle crazed vikings? Combat monkeys? Yep. And they all look fantastic; the little details really stand out now that it's not limited to 480p (thanks Wii).
The gameplay is very straightforward and will be familar to RTS fans - build an army that marches across the flat, 2d field, from left to right, to victory. All the while you are collecting resources, upgrading a tech tree, and casting spells. It's Starcraft distilled and given a healthy dose of comedy. Simillar to that game, the three nations you can play as have a very distinct feel. Aztecs, Vikings, and Chinese, each has a wide variety of interesting units and abilities. Because of this, the game never feels stale, and the achievements and challenges add a bit of replay value once you finish the (charmingly funny) campaigns.
The best part about this game coming to PC is that finally it has MULTIPLAYER. Just awesome.
