Beat Hazard takes your awesome music and makes it MORE awesome. How? Through the addition of lasers and bombs and enormous serpentine spaceships of doom. Plus, the persistent currency and upgradeable perks go a long way toward boosting replay value even further.

On the surface, it's just a cutesy indie Japanese item shop simulator, but what surprised me was the amount of depth and polish that went into the game's RPG and dungeon-crawling aspects. The gameplay is very open-ended -- you're free to spend all your time playing with the economic side of things, or (if you're like me) you can focus on leveling up your various adventurers and slashing/blowing up/punching/shooting all sorts of baddies and neglect your shop entirely. The story is pretty cheesy, but the interactions between characters are always entertaining.
