Myst is a classic game that I personally think everyone should experience. They don't have to like it, or even finish it, but just to play through and see how gaming was back in the early 90s. The stills are still(hah) pretty good-looking, and it's a strange, quirky island with a lot of detail and depth. 9/10

..Unfortunately there are massive issues with this version of the game on Steam and newer OSes. Look into "realMyst: Masterpiece Edition" released on Feb 2014 on Steam for a more compatible game.

Try using compatibility mode.

[whatever drive you have it on C for most people] -> Program Files [It might be Program Files (x86)] - Steam -> steamapps -> common -> Myst. That could be entirely wrong depending on where you installed it to, but basically you have to find the Myst folder. Within that folder, find the application. It should end in .exe. Right-click it and select properties. Click on the compatibility tab, try setting it to win xp service pack 3, if that does not fix the problem also try vista and me.

Note that the gog version does support newer operating systems, you can get that here(they also have a 30 day refund policy)
