This is one of the most terrifying games I've ever played, and I say this from the perspective of a horror fanatic. I had to play in ten minute bursts toward the middle. The "run and hide" playstyle combined with the sanity system pull this game above even the likes of Silent Hill and other classic horror stand-by's.

If you don't at least try this game, you are doing yourself a disservice.

This game is an amazing adventure through the old World of Darkness, suitable for anyone regardless of experience with the tabletop roleplaying game. For those interested in that, I'd like to note the world in which this game takes place has been rebooted in a new game, and the current analogue to Vampire: The Masquerade is called Vampire: The Requiem. Some terms and ideas still exist, but the very feel of the world and the themes of the game are wholly different. They've switched from the advertised "gothic-punk" atmosphere (a term the company itself uses to describe the old setting) to a more supernatural mystery/thriller feel.

Even if you don't intend to play the tabletop game, this is still one of my favorite RPGs, period. Just make sure you go out and download the unofficial patch collection from a mod website. It's still buggy as hell.

I'm writing this at 3 AM before I forget, so excuse any mispellings.

This game is soothing to the core. I went in just to try it before bed and I'm actually not sure how much time I lost. I initally only got it for the Treasure Hunt contest but I think now I'm gonna be playing it more often. It's cheap, too.
