Vampire Survivors with a dash of Harvest/Stardew. Is an interesting and fun combo, that I've dumped some time into.

Like most Survivor-like games, anything that rotates around you in a circle is just better, but there is a duel-stick control option for the things that need more aim to work well.

For $7 this is WELL worth it.

As of this review I have played 4 runs, and "lost" only one... which I force quit from after the first fight because I had something else to do.

The game isn't really difficult in any way. Mechanics are interesting, but once you have a team of 4 with some items on it, you are done. Hit the next battle, try to align types so that you get some passive bonus (some of which are stronger than others, like health regen), speed the battles up and wait for the game to tell you that you succeeded.

For $8, is okay for a day or a few hours. Not sure it has any "staying power" at the moment.

Played EA, had a lot of fun just doing the campaign, and a tiny bit after, on a single character at that time. There was so much to do, especially late game, and I only had a few months to wait for "full release" that I got my 30 or so hours in right then and there. Before releasing officially this game was totally worth the money I spent on it, which is more than a lot of EA titles can say.

Official release and there is TONS of stuff to do, especially in that sweet sweet late game. Never find myself being bored, always something to cycle between, grind for, murder, or optimize. I've been discovering things, too. The two factions based around loot drop, or trading, are really interesting and fun to engage with. Characters have THOUSANDS of possibilities even before you find a legendary that "defines" a build (which I still haven't really).

Granted, release was rough, hence the totally reasonable negative reviews during that 3 or 4 day window, and we are still dealing with some small lag spikes. There are still optimization issues with network on their end, and some graphics settings that cause FPS spikes, and dips, on higher end computers. I am playing on the lowest of settings on purpose, long before I heard any complaints about said FPS drops, and do so BECAUSE I am so used to spiking FPS. I also get some lag during play, especially when I use a traversal skill (teleport).

I played D4 and got bored very quickly. There isn't much to "figure out" in D4.

I played POE and sunk a LOT of time into it but it felt "too hard" to do the figuring out. Never made it to late game with a single character (I have issues with skills being so heavily tied to drops, being literal items you need to equip.)

This really is that nice middle space for dumb old dad who has a job and two kids to deal with, and I GREATLY appreciate that. Intrigued by what devs will do with the "cycles" (this game's seasons) as well. I am still looking forward to POE2. Lets see who learns from who, but I'll be here until I see something else drop.

Try the demo. It is literally just more of that, but it gets harder and you can slowly do more interesting stuff.

For less than $5, give it a try.

I've put a few hours into it doing a quick run and figuring out builds. It is a nice chill game with a little Rouglike flair to wake you up in the morning.

This game reminds me of so many other games I've grown to enjoy with time.

Outward, Minecraft, Grounded, Elden Ring.

Each have their own "learning curve," just like this one. Once you get past that first growing pains, which is only a couple hours of game play, everything really opens up. Single player experience is amazing, and bringing my character into my friends' worlds when/if they want help or just want to explore with company is amazing.

Progress works great, feels natural, and encourages you to steadily move away from your home location. I've barely done anything, somehow done a lot, and feel like there is so much more to do.

For Early Access this feels complete with just some bugs and balancing.

My early access experience has been satisfying for the $25ish I spent on the game. I have quite a bit of time invested, but I've stopped, for now, and am going to wait for more updates to go back into it. Looking forward to see what happens later, but I already got my monies worth so that's okay too.

For $3 I'm not upset with my purchase.

Can't figure out how to make wine (red or white) after it has been on my board for almost an hour. Assumed it would be barrel with berries, ended up making every single building I could, and planting every crop, still unable to make wine.

I wish there was a way to speed up gathering. Sprinklers are great, but the slow hold on each crop individually is sadface after even half the farm is open.

At around level 15 game slowed to a CRAWL after speeding by so quickly, probably because I could not make wine.

There is not another game on market that gives this much player agency.

This last achievement, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!

Good fun game, with lots of options for builds. Base game was pretty easy, and didn't take too much work getting going. Getting to level 14 isn't the challenge, you just need "something" that can loop on itself.

New relics are interesting and make more builds useful and viable, too.

There is lots of fun to be had here for people who enjoy this type of game.
