Petition Information:

The aim of this petition is to demand the Australian Classification Board (OFLC) allow the release of the full (uncensored) version of Left 4 Dead 2 in Australia. On 15 September 2009 the Australian Classification Board announced they were refusing the classification of Left 4 Dead 2.

The Classification Board is the government body responsible for rating all video games content authorised for sales in Australia. According to the Classification Board website, Valve's upcoming first-person shooter has been refused classification for failure to adhere to the current maximum MA15+ ratings guideline. The announcement means the title is now illegal to sell, rent, or promote within Australia.

Information can be found on the Australian Classification Board website: http://www.oflc.gov.au/.

20 September 2009 - An EA spokesperson has confirmed the ban but declined to comment on the possibility of edits or resubmission, saying, "We're still working through the submission process with the [Classification Board], we want to explore all opportunities before we can make a comment."

20 September 2009 - Valve has advised they are disappointed that Australia will miss out on purchasing Left 4 Dead 2 due to a rating's issue. No word yet on whether they will consider changing content to meet the MA15+ classification.

23 September 2009 - Steam advises they cannot comment further until a decision is reached by Valve on whether they will edit content to meet the MA15+ classification.

24 September 2009 - Developer Valve announced it has appealed the Australian ruling of its upcoming zombie shooter Left 4 Dead 2.

The Classification Review Board has received an application to review the classification of Left 4 Dead 2. The review will be held 22 October 2009.
