Idk if you know this or not. Here it is anyway...
Go into ur steam folder steamapps/common l4d2 demo this will also work with full verson and then go in to a file called steam_appid and change the number from 590 to 510
Go to C:\left 4 dead 2 demo\left4dead2 and then the file called steam do the same thing as before change the number from 590 to 510
Run the .exe from the steam folder not thru steam its self it will say ur playing left 4 dead 2 dedicated but that dosent matter cos u can still play online and the gore will work.
