If you are the type of person who is in the market for games you can sit back and play after altering your brain chemistry a bit, this is perfect. Up there with the Lego games for perfect for when you're a little hazy and just want something fun and relaxing.

10/10 for that. 6.75/10 for playing straight. Cute, but not a lot to it. But if you just want to chill and enjoy yourself pick this up, it's perfect.

It is absolutely wild to me that in the YooL MMXXIII this is the best way to play CT given how bad it was when it started. Absolute testament to the devs for working on this.

Having loved pretty much everything SMT prior and having played the vanilla P5 I knew I was going to like this but I wasn't aware just how -much-. Really polished, and easily one of my top ten games of all time. Much more visual novel than RPG, and I normally don't like VNs very much, but this one hit all the right notes and the gameplay is a blast. Recommend all day.

The good: Combat is okay I guess.

The bad: Everything else. Gender locked classes, gender locked advanced classes, horrible story, horrible voice acting, P2W end game, can do everything prior to end game in a couple days, feels very wooden.

Basically like Diablo 3 smashed into an MMO with most of the worst qualities of both.

Skip it. Skip it hard.

Fun little title.

It suffers from not doing any one thing spectacularly, but doing a lot of things pretty well. Nice, heartfelt narrative with some feeling behind it, and a lot of 80s nostalgia. The mini games are fun. You can wrap it in an hour, and 100% it in under 4. Worth a play if you want something short and entertaining.

Kentucky Route Zero is more of an experience than a game.

Sure, there are game play elements, but what you're here for is what the game makes you feel.

It's excellent. It's smart. It's David Lynch with ghosts. Just play it.

Now there's more of it. Play all of it.

Play it all twice.

Maybe one of my favourite experiences in a game so far. I didn't know exactly what to expect when I went into this, and was really blown away but how much it got to me by the end.

Turn the lights down, toss it on, and enjoy the ride. Best played in as few sittings as possible.

I really wanted to like this game, and if I hadn't played the last chapter, I probably would have.

The actual game is entertaining enough, with some fun mechanics aided by and aiding the story in turn. It's uncluttered and emotionally evocative without being, oddly, pretentious about it. But the last chapter feels incredibly forced in how it tries to tie everything together. It was sort of like seeing a writer put themselves into a very interesting premise and then being slightly unsure of how to resolve it.

I can't recommend this game because it struggles and falters at the finish line, but I wouldn't go so far as to dissuade someone from playing it. It's a nice walk in the park, but it rains at the end.

Transistor, SuperGiant's follow up to the incredible Bastion, somehow manages to improve on their previous offering in every conceivable way. I'm going to avoid spoilers in this, so I'll be mindfully vague at points.

The music is amazing. I mean, if you just set it out on its own and listened to it, it is brilliant. However, more than just that, the music is integral to the plot. They use the music to tell the story via lyrics. At times plot and music is blended so well it leads you to question whether they are diegetic or non-diegetic, not unlike brilliant pieces of film such as Trois Couleurs.

The graphics are aesthetically wonderful. Myself, I've never been a big proponent of attemps to use realism in gaming, I far prefer a well done art style that fits the world we're playing in, and style is something that simply oozes out of Transistor. From the usage of vibrant colours juxtaposed against stark white landscapes in later games to the deco styling prevalent throughout, you will drool over this game if you have any love of comics, art, or cartooning. Absolutely wonderful.

The story is a strong narrative told in an unorthodox way. I'll be honest, this won't be for everyone. The story isn't spoonfed to you, you need to work for it a bit. You have to unlock all 3 facets of all your functions, read between the lines of conversations between characters, listen to all the terminal reports and only then, at end game, do you really start to pull everything together into a functional whole. If you take the time, however, it does make it worth your while. The game paints a stark portrait of Orwell mixed with Huxley to create a world of immediate and meaningful gratification that overwhelms the populace's drive for freedom and the ability to stand against a tyranny, whether purposeful or merely incidental, from the people who control it. Hardly new or different in terms of a story, but told very well and in an interesting way.

This game easily creeped into my top 5 of all time, can't recommend it heavily enough.
