Batman: Arkham Asylum
Genre: Action-Adventure, Superhero, Platformer, Puzzle

Games based on one of my all-time favorite heroes, typically haven't been the type of games I would recommend to anyone. Thankfully, Arkham Asylum is the exact opposite of the norm, and is a really, well executed game. You star (obviously) as Batman, having captured Joker and transferring him to the high-security prison, Arkham Asylum. Needless to say, something goes wrong, and it's up to you to fix things right again. The storyline is intersting, the action is fun and even once you have completed the game, it should possibly provide you with several hours more, through hunting down trophies hidden around the games areas and by trying to top the leader boards on the Challenges part of the game. (I get the feeling some people are cheating their scores though.) This is finally a Batman game done right!

Verdict: 5/5

Mirror's Edge
Genre: 1st Person Platformer, Parkour, Shooter

I must admit.. I did not purchase this game through Steam, but I wish I had knowing now that it is well worth the full price. This was one of the coolest concepts I have played in ages, with a fairly unique approach to platforming and shooters. Your main aim will never really be too shoot your way through, but rather to perform neckbreaking jumps between buildings, up walls and through ventilation systems to escape. If you find yourself cornered, you can disarm a foe and use his weapon against others. The graphics are wonderful, clean and stylized. Animations are great (except on some pedestrians far below) and the action (read tension) is just about right to keep you pushing forwards. Controls also works really well. This is a game you should not miss out on. Go buy (full price or not)!

Verdict: 5/5

Damnation
Genre: 3rd Person Shooter, Platformer

At first, Damnation seemed to be what could have been an enjoyable experience.. but sadly it didn't live up to any expectations I had gotten pre-release. From the story as shallow as a puddle, to the horrible AI, where enemies more often than not got stuck just waiting to be shot, to the poor controls (it ain't horrible, but far from good). Add a poor character design including cowboy samurais, zombies, robots and a glorious mech suit to bring it full circle.. and I was left with the feeling that this game should have stayed the Unreal mod it originated from, and not released to the public pretending to be a retail game. Graphics are alright and the levels are pretty big, but after completing the game, I'm not left with a single memorable moment. All in all, this game is not worth the current cost.. but at a lower price however, it might be worth a go. For now I'd steer clear.

Verdict: 1/5

Ceville
Genre: Point & Click, Adventure

These types of games are rare to come by these days and thus I found it an enjoyable experience to point and click my merry way through this humor-filled little adventure, wich contains loads of puns targetted towards other popular games out on the market. Sadly the game is a bit on the short side however and could have well done with a few extra chapters. I left the game feeling it was a bit hastely cut off in the end, wich I guess considering there are hints to a sequel coming leaves you hungry for more, but at the same time slightly annoyed.. Anyways, the game has some genious voice acting, the visuals are alright considering the genre, with the character design being especially delightful (reminding me of Monkey Island to be honest). If you are a fan of the genre, I can recommend this warmly. It should give seasoned veterans at least 5-6 hours of gameplay and most people around 10 hours at least.

Verdict: 3/5
