I like watermelon, alt rock, cats, tabletop games, reading books about all kinds of stuff (fiction and non), metal (music, not alloys and shit, though those can be pretty cool), tea, console gaming, playing cards, several kinds of electronic music that I'm at a total loss about when it comes to identification, making music in my head, sleeping, being awake, and other things that some people would find strange.
First of all, let's get this out of the way. There's an enemy called the Pecker. There, get the immature laughter out of your system right now cause the rest of Bastion is anything but.
It's the most imersive game I've played in recent memory. Gameplay is fun and sort of addictive, though the game doesn't feel long enough to accomodate the involved weapon/tonic system. The narrator (who adapts to nearly EVERYTHING you do) has a voice to rival Morgan Freeman's (yeah,I went there).
And I've gone on about all that without even touching the game's biggest strength. It's soundtrack. There's a reason it's up for sale. This game has some of the most moving pieces of music I've ever heard in a game, and this is coming from someone who's a pretty big fan of FF music.
Get it if you want a fun, immersive experience, but don't be surprised if you're left wishing it was longer.
As someone who very rarely gets scared by games (I might have jumped once or twice when playing Dead Space/FEAR/Doom 3/etc), it came as a surprise that this game could reduce me to sweating at every corner, jumping at every noise, and screaming and whimpering when HOLY FUCK MONSTER CHASING YOU RUN RUN RUN.
Atmosphere is, by far, Amnesia's strongest selling point. It might not have the greatest replay value in the world, but the first time through is sure to be unforgettable...whether you want it to be or not.
I honestly can't believe this game still holds up as well as it does today, but there it is. It's really the little details that make this so awesome. The range of death animations, the fact that you can make yourself left-handed, the machinegun actually having recoil (unlike pretty much everything else nowadays), and of course, the flies that gather around corpses.
It wouldn't mean anything if the game wasn't fun, and it is. It may be a little graphically dated, but the game itself is pretty awesome. The guns are some of the best in any shooter, the enemies are varied enough to keep things interesting, and of course LEFT-HANDEDNESS, YO.
