I tried to join my friends today (a group of three, and me), but the servers were full, so instead of waiting me, I told them to start playing while we waited. The waiting time was taking 30 minutes... and they finished the first game... they asked me how the waiting was going... I kept waiting... so they played another one.

I kept waiting... they finished another match, this time, 45 minutes, and again, they asked me how the waiting was going... still waiting... and no "Error" message was showing this time.

Shockingly enough, one of my friends' game crashed, so now we were two of us on the waiting queue... we told them to continue playing... they played for another one... two... three matches... of 30 minutes each...

And I was still waiting to join... :tableflip:

I understand that servers may be an issue, but hiring servers and escalating services shouldn't be a problem... scalability should be (I insist, should be) instantiating more instances with multi-node orchestration scripts... it's not like that some guy has to configure manually all servers on a data center, or on AWS or VPS remotely...

I don't know the capacity of each server, but spending so many time on solving that problem may be an indicative that there's no automatic solution to this issue. And that could have easily been solved with an orchestration solution like Kubernetes with Docker. :lunar2019piginablanket:

And talking about the "should be"s... there's a lot of input-kinesthetic incoherence. When the reload button is pressed, I expect the Diver to reload the weapon is using, no matter what, and the only way they is able to cancel that reloading is when I cancel that reloading. But for some reason, there are times when that animation doesn't happen: the reloading doesn't occur, so in the middle of a bloody battle, I try to shoot but the only sound I get is an unsatisfactory *click* while I get surrounded by tens of enemies. :cinnamon2:

Then I remember that I can dash and jump, and try to flee from them, but again, when on the floor, for some reason my input of getting up is not read or not processed by the game, or some logic, and frustratingly my experience is that I cannot escape from that situation: no healing, no getting up, no shooting, no reloading. Nothing. Just getting beaten. :seppuku::meatytears:

Another thing that I wanted to say is that the escort missions are really disproportionate. I mean, I would agree that wave attacks would be a good way to balance it, but there are times that even 4-full team... you suffer doing some of those missions... also those civilians are a bit masochists and love, for some reason, to go directly to the enemy, instead of having some sense of self-preservation... :portalbirdhead:

Of course, the random and unexpected crashes make it funnier, because it doesn't make it more fun that after playing a +45min match and expending the whole afternoon farming enemy outposts and samples, A WILD BLACK SCREEN APPEARS FROM NOWHERE, and you have to return to the waiting queue again. Crashes are normal on a newly released game, but if you add that a +1h~ waiting queue... that's not taki taki rumba... :portalbirdtail:

If you sum that to the constant connection fails with other players, the inability to connect to sessions, and the failing matchmaking... literally you can stay days searching for SOS beacons... or well, when your are able to connect to a session, you may get stuck on the ship entrance. :GhostScared:

Beyond that, it's a great game, when I can play it I have a great time with my boyfriend and my friends, it's super fun and I really hope that the developers polish these few details. Besides all that, it's amazing. :nekoheart:

But I can't recommend that game... not until they fix all these issues that screw up the full experience.

This was my first PC game long time ago, and it still is a great game. Totally worth every euro I spent on the remaster.

An exciting adventure accompanied by gorgeous and epic landscapes.

Great bosses, hidden paths, items and characters.

This game fullfils your masochist needs, indeed.
