The first mission isn't challenging hard, it's "Let's make a level only the best players can pass and only then with difficulty. hard. After restarting dozens of times you may get through part of it and think you've stabilized enough to take on the rest. Think again, as the waves of heroes get larger and harder to kill. (For example, I needed to clear out five gunners, which left my team wounded, but had no time to heal because the delivery had caught up to me and there was a group of eight+ very strong heroes it was about to reach. I somehow managed to take them out, only to have another group that strong come up from below me while a third group just as strong entered my dungeon. And a lot of those waves had three to four priestess & novices so they could do nearly non-stop healing. That's not a challenge, that's sadism.)

You'll also run into gold problems. The only diamond vein I managed to find was stuck against an outer wall, so you can only have three snots mining it at the same time. This greatly slows down gold production, making it difficult to do the research needed to try to beat all the abuse the game's throwing at you. Frankly, I suspect that was a deliberate decision given how the rest of the level is.

About the only good thing I can say is that the heroes didn't bother attacking my islands of evil much. But that wasn't much help as the gold problems left with me with tons of evilness I couldn't spend on research to get stronger.

I love the game overall, but I wish I hadn't bought this DLC. It's a waste of time and money. I'm just glad I picked it up on sale, so I didn't pay a lot to be abused.

if you liked Two Point Hospital you're going to love Two Point Campus. You get the same building management only now set on college campuses that have silly courses and activities to go along with them. Sometimes you'll be helping your students become knights, complete with plate armor and learning to joust. Other times you'll be helping them become witches and wizards while dealing with a curse from an angry former student. You develop your staff through training, beautify your campus (indoors and out) to increase status and fend off invaders. Throughout it all the same silly tongue-in-cheek humor that pervaded Two Point Hospital is to be found everywhere. It's a great game and well worth buying and playing.

In July of 2020 this developer cancelled a bunch of keys they had provided Bundle Stars (now called Fanatical), IndieGala, Groupees five to six years earlier. Those keys were legitimately sold in bundles, but one day players were greeted with a message on Steam saying their key had been revoked because there was "a problem processing payment for this item."

This caused a lot of consternation and players were understandably upset. Over the next couple of days it turned out that it was due to a misunderstanding, with the developer thinking they hadn't been paid for those keys, when they had been. They then worked with Valve to get the keys reinstated, and took full responsibility for the mess, posting an apology along with a notice that keys had been reinstated that reads in part:

Anyway, thank you very much for your patience. Let me make this clear, this is my fault and my fault alone. I was misinformed and I made a really stupid decision. If you are angry, your anger is justified. I won't ask you to take down your negative reviews or angry messages. It's my fault, so I won't blame anyone for getting angry at me.

It's rare for someone to admit a mistake and own it that solidly, I really respect their doing so. My review was originally one of those negative reviews because of this issue, but since they not only fixed they issue, they took full ownership and apologized, it's not a fair criticism any longer and I'm changing it.

I haven't played enough of the game to give a full and fair assessment of it, but it's clear the developer's a decent person. What I have played's pretty good, and they're definitely worth supporting.

Factorio is a perfect game to lose yourself in for hours. You gradually build up your factory, getting bigger and bigger as you progress up the tech tree and fight off aliens. Before you know it you've spent a couple of hundred hours playing one base and it's complicated enough that you no longer remember where everything is. It's a lot of fun, and replayability is infinite. You can start over with new random maps and do everything differently. Plus as you play more you'll figure out better ways to do things, and want to apply those to either your current factories or in a new game.

Edit (2022): The developers keep adding and improving the game, it's worth every penny.

I've previously played this on my smart phone, and bought it on sale just so I could easily play all the puzzles again. Hexologic gets difficulty progression exactly right. You never feel overwhelmed, or confused, as it adds new concepts that make puzzles more challenging. By the time you get to the end, you're solving puzzles that would have looked incredibly difficult, or even impossible, just 20 - 30 levels before.

It's a blast playing as the evil overlord, and the game is very funny. The narrator gets annoying occasionally, but he's so funny most of the time that you'll forgive him.

If you love cute girls, and especially cute catgirls this you can't go wrong with Nekopara. The game is overflowing with adorable catgirls, and the story is interesting and funny.

La Tale is a fun 2d side-scrolling mmorpg. It has a cute artstyle, but the underlying game mechanics are a lot more complex than the appearance would lead you to believe. There's tons of stuff to do in the game, from questing, to gathering up items and cards to build a codex of items/monsters, to instance dungeons that need eight players to do properly.

The recent season three update has vastly improved the game with lots of quality-of-life improvements, as well as making it significantly easier to get to high levels and reach end game. The quest rewards have been significantly enlarged, making leveling, especially in lower levels quite simple. Just do your quests and the levels will follow up till about level 100 when it starts to slow down. (This slow down is temporary, as once you get another ten levels or so the amount of quests pick back up till around level 170/180.)

Give it a try, it's free and a lot of fun. I've been playing it since the closed beta in 2008, and made a new account on Steam just to have it on my account. (I'll admit to wanting the badge too.)
