The developers of this game are well educated and experienced, so why in God's name would they downgrade their game? For a larger audience? To make more money and acclaim? Well, I want my money back. I want the original version of the game, don't want this nonsense. I was advertised the original version, the redux version reminded me of those advertisments, and I purchased the stupid game.

The lighting looks really, really bad. There's no actual raytracing going on so I don't understand the idea that the lighting is better because the calculations are closer to an approximation of reality; it looks fake for the setting, whereas the contrived yellow light looked completely believable. I'm supposed to believe that fluorescent lights just break when they're turned on twenty years in the future, but all the incandescent lights emit fluorescent visible radiation?

The controls are half-assed. In the "Ranger" modes, advertised and promoted as the truer experience for the game, you are not aware of what secondary thrown weapons you are selecting. A button press and mouse swipe in one of four cartographical directions is all you get, with no on-screen or prominent aural indicators. This is unbelievably stupid.

The dialogue is not accurately or completely subtitled, so there is no complete cinematic experience available via separate dialogue and subtitle tracks. It has also been completely re-recorded. I truthfully cannot attest to which is better, however the children's voice (lone actor with no variations) sounds completely grotesque and demon-like.

The new character models appear to be lower polygon than the original models, regardless of actual count. They do not look healthy or unhealthy, they look completely uncanny. It is unsettling to look at the other characters in the game for all of the wrong reasons.

Just a really gross example of reiteration for excessive capitalism. The original was one of the first games to utilize the feature set of... the still current version of DirectX. There was no need to redo it. I would have been a fairly happy customer if I didn't know about this version and purchased the original one for 1/6 the cost (as of the current sale prices). I now have nothing but distrust for 4A Games and Deep Silver publishing.
