Do you get nostalgic for old video games? But not the good parts, just the shitty parts where you get pissed and throw your controller across the room or smash your gameboy? Yeah, this is the game for you then. Fuck this game.

All the good and bad parts of the rest of the series made it into AC:R. Campy story, glitchy cutscenes, self-indulgent grandeur... it's all here along with the classic stealth and free-running action. Some big plot arcs finally get wrapped up, but for the most part the plot seems to crawl, and the game ends on yet another cliffhanger. The new bomb system is actually well implemented and surprisingly useful, but otherwise combat is pretty much the same. Points deducted for Ubisoft's terrible proprietary Uplay launcher, and the mind-numbingly awful Desmond side-quests. B-

Love the atmosphere in this, everything is made of either gold or carbon fiber. The story is a little dumb and the last boss is a real let-down but if you like stealthy action and micromanaging a RE4-esque suitcase inventory, this is a winner.
