Sickbrick is a game made by... ahahah, I can't keep a serious face.

SICKBRICK: I AM SICK OF IT ALREADY

Lets totally ignore my usual review format. I am here just to give you a warning about this game which barely qualifies as one and definitely is not worthy of actualy being sold to anybody for any amount. This game in its total sum from beginning to the very end [Which is a mere 83 minutes by the way] feels like an amateurish student project and I actually played games made in a gamejam that actually feels fun and not like someone is constantly dragging my face through the ground and telling me to shoot cardboard targets that shoots foam at me while i engage them with a sniper rifle all the while yelling beside my ear that this game is "FUN".

-sigh-

Graphics
It looks like ♥♥♥♥. No wait, even some of the worse texture I have seen had at least some effort put in it to be cohesive like a dirt floor outside and a gravel road inside the military base. Sickbrick has a single wall texture copypasted onto the ceiling and walls, and sometimes a different wall texture gets used for ceiling, floor, and wall. All in all you will be a madman trying to find a something worth praising about the graphics, it looks so ancient and dated.

Sound
Why do I even try... There is no sound balancing for most part of the game. A particular guitar riff during the desert section actually blew up my headphones which is set to 15% by default. For comparison I cannot hear anything in the game above a whisper because it was giving me migraine with its robot babbling random gibberish and stage FX that looks incredibly bad it was giving me migraine.

So yeah, no good points here either.

Performance, Controls, Option
I dont even want you to buy it so screw the options menu.

It runs at 60 fps all the time.

Controls are horrendous for 'twitch' based shooters like this, you cannot even trust your own bunny hopping since it tends to bounce of every single item or texture off this god forsaken world. The aiming is alright but wait until you get into the tank. You will be flying in no time thanks to the great effort that goes towards the bounding boxes of everything.

Gameplay
You have a gun, shoot anything that moves, easy right?

It's not supposed to be easy because this is a twitch shooter which rely on you almost dying most of the time and only surviving on the skin of your teeth due to the awesome skills which you posses. Not in this game, you are built like a tank and the only reason I ever died is because I got shot halfway across the room and landed in a pool of acid or my tank got blasted upward into the nether because I hit a piece of scenery or or..... ♥♥♥♥ it.

That literally all there is to this game, occasionally collect 1/2 keycard, shoot everything that moves and don't die which you can't anyways since there is cover all over the arena, healthdrops every single room transition, and the third gun you get completely negates the entire challenge with its incredible ability to outshoot everything and fire faster than the entire room of droid combined, with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ large magazine well.

Tank section? Its a rekin version of on foot combat except sometimes you get to change tanks.

Rant
Dont even buy this game, I played student game that actually felt more polish than this. I half suspect that this was made in a shooter fps gamemaker engine what with the amount of bugs, enemies, challenges and other stuff.

There's a total of 3 different minor enemies with 2 turret and reskin version of your tank shooting at you with pew pew, bash your head against the wall and read that again, a total of around 10 types and only 3 that you will ever face in frequency. 83 minute is already starting to feel like torture to me.

So much bugs, with a story that felt like it was made in 5 min.

Conclusion
Dont even buy it, its not worth the cards, the cents, the effort or even the time taken to idle it. Its a literal garbage. Save your money and get something else. Something that feels like an actual challenge.

Scoring Methology:
- S-Rank: excellent
- A-Rank: very good
- B-Rank: solid
- C-Rank: satisfactory
- D-Rank: inferior

Verdict: S-RANK [Shovelware]

Credit:Thanks to meatking and smmoke for your help!

*One of the achievemetn is to finish the game 5 times, 1 is a time too many.*

I didnt waste my money, I felt like i wasted my time. Don't do the same mistake as I did.

For an amateurish student project (which it is) It's pretty well developed. The part they missed was testing.

Also for the record, mods and map editor are only useful if theres people willing to actually make use of the tool, an actual good game I played called Lemma has few user submitted maps and challenges despite the fact the game is also cheap and fun. Therefor I would never take account of such features in review.

There are times to be harsh and time where other part of the game makes up for its deficiency. Sickbrick does not get that distinction from me. When a game is so brainlessly easy, so glitchy, and has terrible controls and migraine inducing graphics placement that has no context whatsoever I dont care if i give it shit because its bad.

For 5 dollars or an entire day worth of food to eat after currency conversion in some other country you might as well just spend your money somewhere else.

Graphics are fine for 5 bucks, I think you reviewed that part a bit harsh. Gameplay however looks a bit boring indeed. Also the game seems to be moddable and including a map editor, I miss that in the pros section. I read that dev is working on Steam Workshop support, hopefully this will get implemented and some more challenging user maps get created; this could also extent the gamehours considerable.

Instead of asking about the game youre complaining that I giving it shit because its $5 and I happen to not know the value of fun=money, well pal for 5 bucks I can name many other other that plays way better than this migraine inducing software. Also the fact that its $5 for 1 hour of pointless shooting and no challenge gameplay speaks volume of its content when so many other games that are actually good only cost $5 for even more content.

They're charging $5 for it. You say they're charging money for it, but bitch about a $5 game's graphics? How poor are you?
Chlorique Dec 16, 2015 @ 10:26pm
Welp that is for you to decide. I will write this thing anyways because I already tried it and that is my verdict for it.

Also the graphic section only make up one small part of the review. The gameplay section is even longer. Whether or not something is worth reviewing is irrelevant when they are charging money for this.

This was all about graphics I am not saying your post is wrong but, graphics isn't the only thing you should talk about and this game isn't even a full game so you can't expect much from this. If it was a full game then yeah I would probably not get it but, even then i'd rather find out myslf rather then listen to people who aren't me. Recommending things for a game that is low on the gaming scale compared to World of Warcraft or any other game that is in that spectrum, is irrelevant
