1. Be polite: to everyone, even the scummiest, meaniest, lowballinest of them. Follow this above all else. In addition: there is a right and a wrong way to turn down offers.

2. Be quick and efficient: most of us have things to do outside of trading, be reasonable, and try not to waste other's time.

3. SteamRep is your friend: this hardly needs to be said, it is a very helpful tool.

4. The sun does not shine out of your unusual/high profile item's ass: We get that you love your hat, and that's great, but that is not an excuse to act like your time is more precious than other's when trading.

5. Spreadsheets are a great resource, to an extent: Use them to ballpark prices and to keep yourself from getting sharked, not as an absolute truth. They are made by humans, no matter how thoroughly researched.

Really, I would just be elated if people followed rule 1, I have had enough of dealing with rude terrible people when trading.
