Emperor Jean-Bedel Bokassa (22 February 1921 – 3 November 1996) was a military officer, and served as President of the Central African Republic from 1966 to 1976, after he'd overthrown his cousin, President David Dacko, before crowning himself Emperor Jean-Bedel Bokassa I of Central Africa. His rule was marked by extravagance, corruption and extrajudicial killings, plus brutality on student protests.

In 1979, he was overthrown by French troops and went into exile. He then returned to the CAR in 1986, and was put on trial for crimes against humanity and sentenced to execution, though the sentence was later reverted to life imprisonment. In 1993 he was released and lived in the capital, Bangui, until his death in 1996.

The Central African Empire is an Absolute Monarchy and one of the largest African RP groups on Steam.

The Central African Empire (French: Empire centrafricain) was the name of the short-lived, self-declared autocratic monarchy that replaced the Central African Republic and was, in turn, replaced by the restoration of the republic. The Empire was formed when Jean-Bédel Bokassa, President of the republic, declared himself Emperor Bokassa I on 4 December 1976. Bokassa spent the equivalent of over 20 million United States dollars, a quarter of the country's government annual income, on his coronation ceremony. The monarchy was abolished and the name "Central African Republic" was restored on 21 September 1979, when Bokassa was ousted with French support.
