Porting the L4D2 campaigns to Left 4 Dead
The goals of this project are to serve as a proof of concept, proving that Valve could have easily made the new maps in the original game, and to strenghten the L4D playerbase with new content, while taking this content from the sequel, ironically to Valve's similar actions against Left 4 Dead.
We have no release date, but we are aiming to release around the same time Valve ports the L4D campaigns to L4D2.
This is the status of the project:
Work done :
- Ported all models and textures.
- Created a L4D2 map-support package
- Jukebox fully working
- Ported near all maps in Left 4 Dead (1)
- All maps are compileable
- Gauntlet events now fully work(Thanks to Impossible)
- Fixed area portal bugs
- Working "item carrying" system, which can be used for the gas cans in Hard Rain, the Gnome in Dark Carnival, the Cola in Dead Center etc.
- Changed the campaign posters so they represent the L4D survivors
- Fixed Dynamic Car Alarms in all maps
To-do list:
- Unlock all roofs for versus
- Add survival mode to all maps (some are already done)
- Hide some easter eggs
- Make fully working nav meshes
- Fix fall damage in some areas
- Add custom particles
- Fully implement all custom items(cola, gnome etc.)
- Make the game remember the weapon statuses on the way back in Hard Rain
