Incredible pixel visual art style with superb lighting and interesting premise.
Noir detective story at it's core with some dark twists in the narrative.
Strongly a story based game so if you are into this sort of game I highly recommend it.
Although it's a short demo, I am looking forward for the full release of this game.

An instant favourite of mine.

This game hits all the right marks for animation, music, sound, style, story and gameplay. A must have for any fan of the metroidvania style of gameplay.

A short game with an interesting concept, contrast is a puzzle platform game based around lighting effects.

The story revolves around a child Didi and her silent shadow jumping imaginary friend Dawn, to whom you control. This game is rather mature and deals with many adult situations from day to day life. Set in a noir mid 1900's city, the ambient is that of night clubs, bars and cabarets. Most of the story events are told through the silhouettes of the secondary characters sometimes having the player be prompted to intervene.

All gameplay revolves around Dawns abilities. In shadow form she moves on a 2D plane where she can reach difficult locations and resolve puzzles, like taking a heavy object from the ground to a higher location made possible via the 2D shadows. Very rarely is the objective or next point of interest not made clear, but deviating from the path has it's own reward on finding more story elements, like memories of past events and collectables.

Sound is a positive, each location has its own themes and sound effects that plays really well with the way the narrative unfolds, considering that most the story is told via silhouettes the sound becomes rather important. Voice acting is pretty solid and old timey that fits the time period.

The game does end with a sort sequel bating, and unanswered questions, one of which is made right at the end of the game, which for me is a negative but not so much that I couldn't recommend this game.

If you like perspective puzzle platformers, early 20th century noir visuals and a bit of drama, I can recommend this game. It's not the most original game out there, but what it does it does well and certainly has its more charming moments that stick with you.

I found this game quite pleasing in it's design and story. Though some people might find the game short, I found it stayed the right amount of time, in the sense that I can see myself replaying this game to completion once again later down my life.

Story-wise, brothers is pretty focussed and to the point. You play two brothers that go on a quest to save their father from an illness, and not much more is said, considering the characters talk an alien language, most of the story is told mostly through sounds, expressions and visuals. Though the game does start with a rather simple story you are given a lot of lore through the locations the brothers explore. It fills the world and makes it rather rich adding to the storytelling. However I did find some events of the game predictable.

There is no actual combat in the game, but rather puzzles that need to be resolved through the joint efforts of both characters. You control both brothers at the same time using your keyboard or controller (I highly recommend using a controller for this game) areas are mostly context sensitive meaning you have one button to perform different actions depending on where you are.
There will be times where you might cross the brothers and forget what side controls who but it's not a major frustration that kills the experience (though I don't deny some envy to those who have no issues with this).

Music and sound are pretty well handled, giving the right tone for all locations in the game. I didn't come across anything jarring or out of place. Considering the lack of any actual native speaking language this is actually a huge positive as the music and sound effects do help tell the story better.

I did enjoy this games story and atmosphere, it took around 4 hours to complete and the game allows you to pick previous chapters to replay which is good for achievement hunting.
