I bought this game in a sale for super cheap so I wasn't expecting much out of it, but what I got was a gem of a game that I am happy to have completed. The gameplay is a mix of JRPG spell-casting and Dance Dance Revolution; it's completely unique and more importantly, it works! It's fun and innovative, and it was novel and entertaining enough to keep me going for the 10+ hour storyline. This game has a lot of personality, and where some parts of the dialogue can miss the mark, other parts will have you laughing out loud. Kudos to the guy who made this, you can really tell this is his pride and joy.

Just play this game. It was marketed as just another “‘MERICA, FUCK YEAH” MMS, but it totally isn’t that at all. In fact, it openly argues against that attitude throughout the entire campaign. It is designed to make you feel like shit for what you are doing, and it does it damn well. Not only that, but the presentation of the game is downright GORGEOUS, with stellar voice acting across the board lead by Nolan North as Captain Walker. If I were to nitpick anything about it, it would be that the combat is honestly really bland and generic, with only a few unique twists. They really should have scraped the multiplayer entirely, and focused solely on the single player.

Regardless, Spec Ops: The Line is a brilliant game that deserves to be played.

This game will make you feel bad.
That game will make you cry.
This game will make you cry crocodile tears and show no sympathy for you while beating you senseless with a club made out of pure unadulterated feelings.
Buy it. Play it. You won't regret it.
