Imagine an open sandbox crime themed action game (e.g. GTA), take any hints of seriousness and realism and throw them out the window and start beating on them with a 6' purple sex toy.
SR:TT takes the concept of "focus of fun" from the second game in the series and magnifies them tenfold. It's an understatement to call this game off-the-wall.
The story is somewhat lackluster, but that's far from the point. The point is that not only are ridiculous shenanigans possible, but rather an integral part of the gameplay.
So, don't expect anything serious like a story or character development from this game and just enjoy the hilarity that ensues.
With a library of chill, downtemp music, I found myself immersed into this intense visual feast! Unlike 2d, objective generated music generated games like beat hazard , The Polynomial creates an arlgorythmically generated galaxy of pulsating fractals. The visuals are really something to be mezmerized by, while the gameplay is a little simplistic. It's somewhat of a simple space shooter set in a zero-g envirionment. The enemies can really get overwhelming when set on the highest difficulty, but playing on a normal difficulty and customizing the plethora of graphical settings so something you most enjoy is pretty... well just pretty. The game also has you jump through wormholes that transport you to a newly generated envirionment so if you get tired with one system you can go into another algorythmically generated envirionment. The music also flows completely without interruption by loading up a playlist, so you don't loose that immersion factor after finishing up a song.
Alright, so if you've every found yourself somehow addicted to a 2D physics game, you'll probably want to pick this one up. I will warn you that you will probably end up loosing track of time, for this game may spin you into a spiral of frustration.
Overall, It's quite a deal for $5. There's plenty of levels that get more and more difficult as you progress. This game really hit that part of me that loves puzzle games, and it's a non-time-intensive type of puszzle game as well. So you won't find yourself frustrated that you ran out of time before you could finish the goal. You will, however, find yourself frustrated that you released that goddamn chain just 1/256 of a second too late AGAIN!
So, even if the object of knocking marbles into motion with juuuuust the right amount of force doesn't appeal to you, you will probably become more and more intrigued and sucked in the more you play. At one point it brought me back to high school phisics, attempting to calculate all the vectors.
