Games recommended by Bad Sector _

Torchlight is a very good "hack and slash" action RPG (sort of). Despite being called a "diablo clone" by some people, i consider it better than Diablo only because it managed to keep me interested for far more than Blizzard's game could. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in mindless click and smash games :-)

While not as action-packed as the originals, Doom 3 is still one of my favourite shooters mostly because it still remains a mindless shooter despite all the attempts to put a "cinematic" experience around it. Also even after six years, it still looks very good and the graphics have aged very gracefully. The negative aspect is only the "cinematic"-isms i mentioned above, which can be a bit tiresome, especially at the beginning when you're all "OMG! DOOM! WANT SHOOT DEMONS NOW1!!" and you get a lengthly scripted sequence with nothing to do beyond jumping around like a rabbit on steroids shouting "STOP TALKING TO ME AND GIVE ME THE DEMONS! NO I WONT STAY PUT OPEN THAT DOOR! ARGH WHY CANT I SHOOT YOU?".

I don't think this game needs a recommendation since you probably already have it. But in the case you don't (your only excuse it motion sickness from first person perspective games or being born way too late), Deus Ex shows what you get when a company focuses on the PC platform when designing the game - and unfortunately its sequel clearly shows what "dumbing down" a game means. In any case, Deus Ex is one of the few dark cyberpunk games you'll find developed this side of the millenium and a shining example of what a game with depth should be. The only drawback of the game is the graphics which even at the time the game was released were sub-par and this is made very clear at the beginning of the game which is the worst (graphically) part. Of course after a few minutes you'll stop noticing the graphics and focus on the gameplay and the multitude of options it gives for accomplishing your tasks.
