This is a perfectly decent RTS. Compared to the first Supreme Commander game, this has a lot more experimental units that are much easier to build, so if you like giant robot battles, this is your game. And most of the stategic depth of the game comes from the varying abilities of the experimentals available to each faction. That being said, the basic units have very little variation from faction to faction, and cover far fewer roles than the first game, thus leaving you with fewer strategic options than before. Also, the Aeon no longer have naval units, and the Seraphim from Forged Alliance do not return in this sequel. So, while this is a perfectly decent game, and adds some interesting new experimental units to the series, Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance is a better strategy game in general.
