Get in here if you're up for Freelancer
/v/ group for freelancer server. Let's have some adventures in SPACE
If you don't have the game, just get this file which has everything (The mod and game) already installed and ready to play, all you have to is unzip it, and you're set

When everything is done, READ THIS GOD DAMMIT!
http://veelancer.wikia.com/wiki//v/lancer:_Starting_Guide
It'll tell you how to play, so you don't suck completely.
Or you can play the first few missions of the campaign, which are just as good.
TO PLAY ON THE SERVER DO THESE
Make a shortcut, then in the target box add "-s108.3.230.163:7346" AFTER THE QUOTES, it should look something like this:
"C:\Users\[Yourname]\Downloads\Freelancer\EXE\Freelancer.exe" -s108.3.230.163:7346
Also filter for incompatible builds
TO THOSE WITH RESOLUTION TROUBLES:

Extract this to your Freelancer/EXE folder, it'll replace the relevant files.
When you go to start up /v/lancer, either steam-wise or normally, add "-dX' to your launch options. You can do this with the IP as well, so it'll look something like this:
"C:\Users\[Yourname]\Downloads\Freelancer\EXE\Freelancer.exe" -s108.3.230.163:7346 -dx
If you want your game to look nicer, download extreme grapfics.
I've put up two seperate versions: One has all the bells and whistles, the other has AO disabled. This is because most problems people have with this are caused by AO.
Download the one of your choice. If you're not sure if your computer can take it, get the No AO version. Extract it to your Freelancer folder, overwrite everything.

No AO: http://www.mediafire.com/?524z68mwqb3a0ea
I INSTALLED IT, SOME TEXT SHOWS UP IN THE UPPER LEFT CORNER OF MY SCREEN BUT I DON'T NOTICE ANYTHING DIFFERENT
Enabling the fancy effects on load causes shitloads of problems, so you have to enable it after the game starts. You can do this at any time by pressing SHIFT+F12. You can press SHIFT+F12 again to turn the effects off again, if you're in a huge boss fight or something and things are starting to chug.
