I love this game. I LOVE THIS GAME.

It has simulation aspects (you commamd your dwarven horde), creative aspects (build your base! decorate your house!), and RPG aspects (stats! weapons! gear!)

Working through your technology tree and uncovering new recipes is the most fun thing for me. There's no real story goal outside of "survive" and "make it to the portal" so the tech tree helps define what you should be doing next. It's also very satisfying to gear up your dwarves and start a raid on a goblin camp. Every so often, they trigger a massive monster horde to test your defenses. I play on the harder difficulties now because it really forces you to be tactical.

Not to mention it has all the fun of Minecraft, too.
