While not the epitome of 3D platformers, Psychonauts is a superb gaming experience. You really need to take this game slowly to get everying out of it. Characters and character-driven plot is the main show; every single character - even the non plot-essential characters are lovingly formed with their own unique traits, motiviations and character development. After each plot significant event it is worthwhile to talk to everyone because they will always have something new to say.

If you're the kind of person who can excuse some minor gameplay issues for good characters and artistic direction, Psychonauts is a game for you. If you're on the fence, let me list - out of context - some things that you will experience:

• A dentist who harvests brains
• A level where you become a giant godzilla-style monster and terrorize a city of talking fish
• A goverment agent who disguises himself as a housewife by brandishing a rolling pin and talking disjointedly about pies

Convinced?

A masterpiece of gaming. Combines excellent puzzles with great environments and genuine characters in an extremely well-written story. Difficulty curve is spot-on and the game does a pretty good job of teaching you new testing elements and how they work with portals and the environment.

Co-op is fun, but I do not doubt that the quality of your experience is heavily dependant on your co-op partner. Find a (preferably smart) friend and use voice chat (or play on LAN) for best results. Having 4 portals requires much more devious solutions and being able to talk it through will maximise your enjoyment.

There are some nitpicks, like the single-player campaign being a bit "fattier" than Portal 1 and the lack of replay value in the co-op campaign, but these pale in comparison to the absolutely sublime experience that is Portal 2.

tl;dr: Why haven't you bought this game yet?

Trine is a beautiful and simple physics puzzle-platformer. The art style and music have a wonderful synergy which creates an air of magic around the game. Gameplay is well executed requiring you to switch between the wizard, thief and soldier continuously throughout each level, and figuring out which character best suits the current situation. The EXP and item chests provide a excellent reward for exploring and replaying levels as they provide neat perks for the characters. The only criticism I could make is that the wizard is a little more useless than the soldier and thief as the wizard has no effective way to fight and seems to move somewhat slower. Also, I found I spent most of my time as the thief during the platforming sections; her grapple and agility make her extremely flexible.

Overall, an excellent game. Wait until this goes on sale, then snap it up as fast as you can!
