Absalom

Firaxis did their own thing with this one. It's not necessarily a bad game (the production value is top notch), but it does not hold a candle to the original UFO Defense & TFTD. Personally, I wished Firaxis had kept the old TU style combat.

The new diorama base building is interesting at first, but ultimately just eye candy. One of the best parts of the originals was constructing a base layout with a strategic goal: the anticipation of an alien raid of you own base. There is no such thing in this new XCom game. And that's more to the point, there's alot in this new XCom game that just seems "missing."

Despite its shortcomings, the new XCom game is worthy of its title. There have certainly been worse games to come along bearing the XCom brand.
