Got this game around the time it first came out 4 years ago. It was a nice refresher from the original Team Fortress which, you could say, is alot more "serious" than Team Fortress 2. I enjoy how the characters have more of a personality now than what they did before, but again I think I will always love Team Fortress 1.
But now, I'm finding alot of the game has lost a bit of what it was, being taken over by hats, "unlockable" or buyable weapons, and the new crowd the game is reeling in. Now that the game is free to play, the amount of "respectable" players (from the recent games I've played) seems to be dwindling and the public servers are bringing in hordes of aggrivating movie makers which takes away from game play. Of course, server switching always works, but even then. It's sometimes hard to find a "good" server now.
I'll recommend this to those who can still enjoy Team Fortress for what it was.
I've only recently got into the Strategy genre of games and I was a bit hesitant to buy this one at first. I can happily say I'm glad I bought it. It's very enjoyable to watch your civilization grow throughout the game as you can either choose to wage war or keep piece. I was expecting a bit more of a Company of Heroes type of RTS (visual wise) but I'm perfectly fine with how Civilization was laid out.
I also enjoyed the fact that when a game ends in 2050 you have an option ot either quit or continue playing rather than start all over.
To be honest, I generally despise games like this nor was I ever much into the whole sword fighting, etc type genres. I bought Skyrim originally for the Xbox 360 and instantly fell in love. The graphics (even on the console) where impecable while the environment just took my breath away. There are so many intricate details through out the game I'll sit there and gawk at them. While the main story line, in my opinion, was short, there are enough side quests to keep you going even after you finish the main ones. I greatly enjoy the many locations where you can buy houses, the option to marry, as well as the ability to either become a vampire (even though it was in other ES games) or a werewolf.
Many of the enemies that come about in the game are just astonishing as well. From dragon fights, facing Draugrs, Giants and mammoths, or delving into an acient Dwarven ruin only to face the towering Centurions, the enimies prove to be more of a treat to find.
