This is a tough game for anyone who is a gamepad player (like myself), yet is is one of the most rewarding racing games I've played. The stages are well crafted, engaging, and have a different feel depending on weather, time of day, and run times (stage degradation). The controls are snappy, and responsive. The liveries are nice, but the car classes are the best part. Each car feels different, and they force you to use different driving techniques.

Online is great, but it depends on location and skill. Some people you match with will be leaps and bounds better or worse than you. Also your latency is a big factor in being able to complete a stage. The only real flaw with the game is its always online synchronization methods. They suck, and can have you replaying the previous stage over if you exit the game immediately after finishing a circuit. Be sure to enter another championship, or another stage before exiting the game, I've made this mistake too many times. Other than that enjoy a great game!

I grabbed this game when it was free for Christmas, eager to download it before the final hours of it being available. After I was able to download after the countless times I thought my ISP was throttling my connection only to find out steam was having problems somewhat caused by the game being freely downloaded by the masses. When I finished downloading and the initial process of getting sound and video right, I jumped into the game with ease while playing with others whom also recieved the game for free and it was a very enjoyable few hours. The game had no hiccups for me while playing on a low level laptop, probably due to this game being a few years old and optimized for past hardware. Now having put in a couple strong hours into the game, I have to say L4D2 is one of the best experiences I've had going into a "new" game. Granted I've only had this game for about 4 days, but I have to say I'll be playing this for a while, or as long as the servers are running. 5 star game here for me.
