No, AFAIK you cannot play non-VR games, or use the headset to work with conventional apps. Although you may be able to do this eventually. Right now, in the Windows MR 'home' app you can watch videos (either with the media player or Netflix), and even surf the web, but there are no 'productivity' apps as of yet. But I wouldn't be surprised if this is introduced at some point.
