Despite what most will say [with how many of them having actually played it or not being up to debate] Duke Nukem is a perfectly sound game. Not anything entirely wrong with it. Duke fans will love it, and those that are always clammering for games going back to "how they used to be" have no excuse to not like it, because that's what it is.

It's a game from the olden-days brought to the present.

If those 14 years were actually spent in consistent development and QA, then yes i fully agree this would be horrible in relation. But it wasn't. At MOST 5 years were spent on the game we see today. So take all reviews with a grain of salt and just go have fun shooting aliens.
