Such a simple concept executed beautifully. Multiplayer works great. Devs really hit a hole in one :D

It's rough to write this because I want to like this game, I really do. I put my fair share of hours playing alone as well as with friends during Early Access days and now, with it being officially released, I can't recommend this game to anyone.

The core mechanics of the game aren't the issue here. They have been changed throughout the Early Access period, with attempts at balancing the different materials and the ways to acquire them (being able to craft anything from soil discouraged exploration to be honest and I'm glad it has been tweaked). I enjoy how certain raw materials and gases can only be found in specific planets now. It pushed me to actually go to other planets to try and get a full Astroneer experience.

But the bugs. The darn bugs.

This game is very poorly optimized. Even then that is an understatement. I would argue that many people looked forward to playing with their friends but that experience is quickly tarnished by the abundance of bugs and errors that plague the multiplayer experience.
-Hosting a server for your friends will tax your computer. You can have a good gaming setup by modern standards and will still struggle to remain above 20fps. The co-op section in the main menu hints at servers coming soon but who knows if they'll actually fix the issues.
-An input at the wrong place at the wrong time can erase hours of hard work. Something as simple as getting into rovers can launch you and your friends up to space, rendering the materials on your corpse unable to be recovered and having whatever vehicle and its contents disappear from plain sight. It is frustrating to have the constant fear of losing your progress on your mind.

The issues above have been present since the Early Access days. Back then, it was easier to turn a blind eye. I understood that the game was unfinished and development was still taking place. But the game has now been released and the same issues remain present. It is simply unacceptable.

This game has potential. If you're on the fence about buying it, don't. Wait until the devs solve the issues. I hope that the wait will be worth it.

Don't let the price tag fool you. This game has more content, soul, and hours of gameplay in it than most AAA games out there nowadays.

First found out about the game about a year ago at an event held by my college organization. Decided to buy it (since it was on sale) a few hours ago and I already feel like I got my money's worth. While online multiplayer is the name of the game nowadays, I feel like the local LAN is the only way to play this game. The gameplay itself gives me a nostalgic feeling that takes me back to the days where I played Super Smash Bros. with my cousins when we were children. Few games do that nowadays.

10/10!

The more you play this game, the more insane you become. Have fun.
