Well, since you ARE reading, here are the games I play, my opinions on them, etc.

CAUTION: INCOMING WALL OF TEXT

Beat Hazard: Solid game, it's like Asteroids but with your music tracks.
Borderlands: In co-op it's great. Solo is more like Bore-derlands, get it?
Black Ops: Great zombies mode, kinda expensive though.
Call of Duty 4: An action-packed campaign that will move you, and a multiplayer mode that other games blatantly copy.
Modern Warfare 2: A step up from Call of Duty 4 multiplayer (YES IT IS), with colorful maps. Solid campaign, great co-op.
Modern Warfare 3: Remember what I said about MW2 and its colorful maps? None of those here. Campaign is OK.
Half-Life series: I bought them all for 5 euros, and they easily beat any current singleplayer shooter.
Skyrim: Even without mods it's awesome, but has a few WTF bugs. Expect to randomly crash to desktop.
Team Fortress 2: Most balanced multiplayer shooter of this century. There are no "noob" or "overpowered" weapons. Imagine!
Metro 2033: My favorite post-apocalyptic survival horror single-player shooter to this day. You should read the book too.
Tribes: Ascend: Definitely worth its money. (Hint: It's free-to-play.) Also, jetpacks.
Portal: My favorite PC game. BEST BOSS FIGHT EVER.
Portal 2: A hilarious black-humor style game, with an amazing interactive soundtrack and a standalone co-op mode.
DayZ: An ultrarealistic multiplayer survival shooter on a huge map. Offers unique moments of pure tension.
Assassin's Creed series : Stab people in historically accurate depicitions of old cities! Now has multiplayer too! You stab people in it!
Farmville: OH MY GOD THESE POPUP MESSAGES ARE DRIVING ME CRAZY
LIMBO: You're a little boy stuck in a world where everything is trying to kill you. Very immersive, and very depressive too.
DOTA 2: It's a game that requires skill, teamwork, and playing it 24 hours a day to find out how the heck it works.
Left 4 Dead 2: Co-op zombie shoot-em-up by Valve. Is all you need 2 know.
Don't Starve: Minecraft's no respawns mode + DayZ's survival + Tim Burton style graphics. WHY HAVEN'T YOU BOUGHT IT YET?
