If you find the right server (like Scumdumpster) this game is an absolute PvE/PvP kinda-RPG survival banger.
Got some bugs but hey, it's come a long way already and is still going!

This has quickly become one of my favorite RTS games.

+Positives+
For those who played Company of Heroes 1, older Blitzkrieg games and Men of War, this is an obvious choice.
Difficulty setting ranges from relaxing and easy to excitingly unforgiving.
The game offers wide variety of gameplay and unit options with each army, even customization of units down to each individual soldier and his weapon and helmet which carries over between the Conquest missions so that everything you've captured or picked up, loaded into truck or else, stays with you until you lose it in combat somehow.
A nifty feature this game has is direct unit control. It lets you to take manual control of a single soldier or vehicle in both top down and third person view, allowing you to make a real difference on the ground yourself, if the situation demands it.
I am not much of a linear campaign player, but the game offers sprawly sets of linear missions for each nation.
Dynamic campaign is a wonderful offense-defense based set of randomized missions in between which you prepare your unit composition. It feels more like each battle is a fresh skirmish, but with your veteran army you have built along the way.
Then of course, battles and skirmishes for both singleplayer and multiplayer.

-Negatives-
Controls might feel a little clumsy and not immediately responsive, especially in third person direct control mode. This comes in the form of unpleasant "freezes" of your character or vehicle mid-animation, preventing any action for a brief moment. It is consistent enough, so you can likely get used to it.
Fog of war is slightly misleading, even though it feels like the more interesting way to play the game. Units tend to ignore it at times, shooting accurately without direct line of sight. This applies to both, your units and enemies. At times your men will shoot at enemy that you can not even see indicated on the map or in the field.
There are still a few bugs, but all in all the fun this game offers easily outweights them.

Great atmosphere, great gunplay, the fact that you try to keep your levelled hunters from dying makes gameplay very intense. In turn it is quite rewarding to thoroughly consider each step you take, for which you usually have enough time. Especially dual objective matches tend to drag long enough for you to really see the contrast between the careful wading through the swamp and sudden, threatening shootout.

The game offers pretty much everything I'd ask of it, however... I lost more hunters to random disconnects than to actual players or monsters.
Not a cool idea to kill off any player who crashes, not at all.

(edit) The more I play, the more I wish there was a hardcore mode without darksight boost, banners and darkvision lightning pointers. I feel like too much information robs this game of it's best aspect, the atmosphere defined by uncertainty.
The rounds have 60 minute timer for a reson, wouldn't you agree?

Absolutely brilliant RTS. It is nice to see such thing pulled off to this extent since the times of Knights of Honor.

Where it lacks the immersive battles of Total war series and in general battlefield action, which it's predcessor might have had, it is doing it's job of kingdom management RPG perfectly.

I am especially excited about the character relations and options available to you when it comes to general decision making, which in turn may significantly (sometimes less) affect your character.

Brilliant strategy since I can even remember.

The only thing it is missing is conversion achievement larger than 1000, hence the one point less. But alas, we all make mistakes.

I have not finished the game yet, but I will try to provide decent feedback from my experience so far. Playing on desktop without controller.

Game has a nasty, big skillcap especially in PvP which actually makes it so much fun I dare to say. Controls on desktop require a little getting used to, many key combinations are unnecessarily complicated and inability to bind your own keys almsot seem to favor the console controller. (ie. shift+M1 to interact could be any other singular key)
Various patterns of weapon attacks, parry animations, spells and seemingly vast amount of combinations stand up for great variety in gameplay. Enemies are also not constant and they tend to surprise you with something new at least in two playthroughs. Many sercret rooms and passages also add a bit of flavour. Lore of the game seems vast and kind of concealed for those who won't do any searching for answers and just go bashing through.

I really like the way the multiplayer is implemented. The game itself is decent in single player but the interactions, invasions and summons make it really feel like you're never alone. Covenants are especially useful for multiplayer purposes let it be killing others to make theyr day even more miserable or helping them to prevent that. That's not all though and numerous covenants offer variety of interesting concepts. Playing with friends cooperatively is also fairly easy and allows up to 3 people party to roam one's world, you'll have to do this in each one's world to proceed though.
Sadly you might get matched with people of very different skill level and equipment, also PING tends to differ which makes some fights impossibly laggy.

Graphics are pretty up to date. Details especially on weapons and equipment are making it fun to look at. Some textures and vegetation over the areas look a bit stretched and repetitive here and there but I am not really the one who gives too much weight on graphics.

I'd call this one of the few games out there which are quite original in themselves.

Alas, the end of my crappy review.

I'm old fan of these games so I bought this game on discount as a part of whole collection for 2,50. blahblah
I'm personally running windows 8 on a decent HW and to be honest, when I turned the game on for the first time everything went insanely fast (5x?) and save feature was disabled. Other than that I didn't notice any problems and even managed to find a working fix for these 2 issues (worked aswell for my friend). Now I'm playing it MP with my friend, the only drawback of multiplayer would be the desync (one player sees something that didn't actually happen) that occurs every once in a while but it's not something unbearable, load usually fixes it. It's an old game and let's be straightforward about it lads 1998 and 2014 is quite a jump in gaming industry.

All I can say to finish this review would be that I'm content with it even if I needed to mess around with fix for a few extra minutes. The game overall is worth it, good old classic tactical RTS. So don't hold back when you want to buy this lil game!

Really either of them is useful and the first one will probably lead you to video anyways... but you really jsut have to replace few files to make it work (one).
