The video game equivalent of a bad 80s action movie. And I mean that as a compliment. Do you like the movie Commando? Do you like explosions? Do you like bad acting and over the top writing? Do you like even more explosions? Then this game is for you.
A great game. Has some of the most realistic, well realised, and enjoyable to explore urban locations in any game I've played. Well done cover and combat system, extremely well done "multiple routes through each mission" setups that allow you to come up with entertaining and unique ways through each mission. Often I would reload a save from the beginning of an area after I went through it in order to go through that area via a different method. Lots of fun easter egg references (Dopefish!), decent to well done voice acting and dialogue, with characters I either came to love or loved to hate. The only negative is the handful of annoying bossfights spaced throughout.
Granted, I'm still playing it and haven't gotten particularly far, but so far I can say that this game is very Japanese, rather silly, and quite entertaining. If you want a JRPG, this is a rather good PC JRPG, with unique fun in running your shop, and some relatively tight , enjoyable combat, though I'm curious to see if that gets repetitive over time. Capitalism, ho!
