Although Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is probably the most ridiculously long named game that wasn't intended, but it is surprisingly one of the best kart racers out there. I have not played the original Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, but I heard it was only ok. Sumo Digital have stepped up their A-game to bring a great kart game and a wonderful PC port.

So Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed plays somewhat similarly to the well known Mario Kart games. Things like getting a extra boost on a jump, getting items to hit other racers with, but the similarities mostly end there.

At first I was typing a really long review about everything in the game, but you can just look at any other review and see what it's generally like. I'm here to talk about the PC port.

I'm one to be very picky when it comes to getting games later on the PC then on consoles. Well with any game that I think was designed with another console in mind I worry about the PC port. I worried that my computer would run this game sluggishly because of Sonic Generations. Sonic Gen plays so badly on my computer, so like I said it made me worry about this game.

But have no fear, like I said earlier, this is a wonderful PC port. (Plus it's a different developer, not Devil's Details) 60 fps, beautiful textures, and decent keyboard controls (Though I really recommend a xbox controller anyway).

Is it worth $30? Yes if you really love kart racing games and want a somewhat fresh experience. If you only kinda like kart racing games then you can wait till it goes on sale at some point. (I got my copy for free from a friend because he bought a 4 pack [because I told him I was kinda excited about this game lulz])

I still made this too long... Also there is currently (as I post this) a problem with multiplayer, but SUMO have promised to patch it in the near future.

TL;DR Great kart game, great PC port, have a xbox controller though.

I played the heck out of this a few months ago. Now that it's on Steam, it gives me a excuse to play it again. ^^;; Try it out, it's free and is only about 40 MB.

Very cute and fun game. Easy to learn controls, and great to play with friends! Being able to swap characters as much as you want during the building phase makes it so it’s not too challenging going solo. The key to success is all about utilizing each character’s different building types and knowing your surroundings to your advantage. If you liked Torchlight and Sanctum, this game should definitely be on your list.
