Enjoying some games but damn do I need a better rig.
Trying to give honest reviews of the games I play at enough length but I am limited to so many characters with Steam however I aim to get all my games 'recommended' at some point, I would love the oppertunity to review games or be involved in games journalism professionally or just for fun. If anyone knows of a decent place for some opinions or where I can leave better reviews let me know. Feedback much appreciated.

First things first. The game is not complete and is broken, I strongly suggest looking on the forums and the message boards for the mods or tweaks you will need to make this work, early sections of the game will prove challenging nearly impossible but a later sections of the game will be BROKEN. If memory serves the only solution I could find was to actually circumvent the entire section.
The game in actuality has numerous good ideas and an interesting enough story taking inspiration and more often whole sections from Lovecraftian literature, but generally all these elements are poorly implemented. Annoying levels and obstacles teamed with a healing system where one needs to heal individual wounds according to the injury (splints for fractures, stiches for cuts) and leads to a slow heal, nice idea but in the context proves annoying. Likewise the sanity system is not a terrible idea but just doesn't amount to a lot more that a blurred wobbly screen and tinitus noises. Mostly these just feel like features to slow you down and make you keep stopping. Possibly due to the number of bugs and serious issues I encountered which can not of helped but in the end this game just began to feel like a real drag and all around an uphill slog to complete. There is a lot more I could say on this one but sadly there's just not enough room on here, if there is demand I will make a future project of this.
In summary a mediocre experience that rarely captures the real essence of H.P. Lovecrafts horror. Often more annoying than challenging and the fact it isn't even fully functional on its own does not help. Only play this if you are curious or a real Cthulu mythos fan.
By turns amazing and insanely frustrating arcade style shooter. With no saves and perma-death system that means upon death you start from square one, the game works by the player achieving as much as they can in a single run. Through a combination of item pick ups and special abilities the player becomes gradually more powerful, but with a vast roster of items and ways to get them e.g. deals with the devil that give powerful traits at a terrible cost and some items having both pros and cons the game works massively on the roll of the dice, and given the random nature of items, enemies and the levels replayability is the name of the game.
With a gameplay style akin to a hardcore Zelda dungeon crawler and a cute meets creepy style all rolled into a very challenging yet ultimately satisfying bundle this game is a real gem and not to be missed. Along with its DLC, adding new items and enemies etc both titles rolling in at a low price its well worth grabbing it when you can, and if it comes up on a sale you really have no excuse.
