I really like this game. It's a decent base building game and the atmosphere from the post apocalypse combined with mad max type structures and units / with thrown in random destructive events like meteor showers / droughts, it really helps give the feel I was hoping for.

You start off primitive (as you'd expect) with basic water / food and hand full of people but you have the opportunity to research better tech, ending with wind / solar and automation. You can also focus research into different areas and maybe start focusing on house designs to boost breading of your people or weapons to give your specialist a boost defending your people.

But the path you chose may be inappropriate at the time so it’s a case of slowly spending your limited research points wisely, then entering exploration mode to harvest more science points.

Or perhaps research economics to enable building of trade station to allow trading with other settlements.

You have two game modes, one which is real time, to deal with invasions / answer questions from your people / usual base building stuff, plus you also have exploration mode, when you scan outside your perimeter for resources / battle with nasties and complete quests, all which is turn based and your action points refresh every day.

When you enter exploration mode, real time freezes, so you don’t have to worry about missing anything in your base.

Dev's have really put a lot of thought into this game. I also like the fact your resources are acquired from ruins / demolished buildings / landfill sites plus the sound track is decent to.

I have seen a few people complain about micromanagement... this is not micromanagement, that is usual for base building games when you create a resource to feed another production to create another resource, and something an inexperienced gamer would moan about
(the ones im taking about are the ones who want full automation and would rather watch a you-tube video of someone else playing, imbeciles!)

I have found now after about 50 hours of gameplay I’m left with nothing much else to do (im playing on hardest difficult, and im a bit of a veteran with base building games, so I would like to see the DEVS give the game something else to provide more longativity to keep session gripping, I literally need to restart the game now for a new experience.
Sorry I haven’t got time to give this a detailed review as it deserves at the moment but I rate this game 90/100 in its current state.
For those wanting surviving mars 2, it’s completely different and the atmosphere is totally different, if you like base building games though and enjoyed surviving mars you will probably enjoy this too.

Reminds me of knights and merchants / stronghold / kings bounty (exploration mode) / Civilisation.
