Ukon ja Väinämöisen seuraajat
This group stands for Finnish patriotism and Fennomanism, which was a popular ideology arround the early 1900s, believing in Finnish uniqueness and re-inforcing it's national identity, based on it's history and culture rather then shaping it into a political system based nation (like the Soviet Union), like the Communists who attempted to take over the nation in the Civil War had planned. The Fennoman motto was:
"Swedes we are no longer,
Russians we do not want to become,
let us therefore become Finns!"
Historical info:
Before Swedish crusaders invaded and forced the lands of Finland into Christianity the Finns had their own religion, based on nature and with many of the different gods, partially influenced by the Nordic beleifs but very unique too. Ukko was the god of the lands of Finland, he used thunder to protect it, in the ancient Finnish national epic, a hero of magic came to protect the land of Kalevala (southern Finland) and defeat the evil people of the north (Pohjola). It is very likely that Pohjola was the interpritation of Crusader invasion from Sweden by the Finnic-Uralic people, and part of the ancient poems are no doubt influenced from that, it making it increadible that the Finnish people still remembered the ancient poems of "pagan" times, a true example of Finnish cultural defiance and resistance.
Through the spirit of the Finnish people, the great land of Kalevala has been made un-conquerable, embodied in the spirit of the great people of Finland, Väinämöinen lives in the heart of the Finnish nation, and the origins of this great spirit and this un-defeated nation, should never be forgotten.
