This is it, the first person melee multiplayer game you were waiting for.
Simple to learn, yet VERY hard to master, the game features 4 playable classes, each with their own stats that define their speed, resistance, abilities and unlockable weapons.
I must say it has been a while since a multiplayer game had me this addicted.
Between the duels that get your heart to pump very fast, and the horrible moment where you find yourself alone against multiple foes, if you do manage to get out of that situation alive, you will feel like the biggest badass in the world.
The game relies heavily on timing and stamina management, timing your block, attacks, and "feint" which means pressing "Q" to cancel your current attack, therefore tricking the opponent to block too early, so you can follow up with a real attack.
The whole system is very cleverly implemented, and really requires skills, a very great design very well executed.
I recommend playing through the training level, since it explains many of the basics, but after that, it's pure awesomeness.
Natural Selection 2 is the perfect blend between First Person Shooter and Real Time Strategy.
There are 4 different gameplay styles in one game, either Marines, Marine Commander, Aliens, or Aliens Commander.
Playing as a Marine is the most basic, playing as an Alien is simple to learn yet hard to master, but playing as either of the 2 Commanders will determine whether your team wins or loses.
Having a Microphone is necessary if you are going to be a Commander, team play is required in order to succeed.
Definitely one of the most fun and refreshing multiplayer games to come out in a very long time.
This game is a huge time sink...
A typical FTL playthrough is about 2 to 3 hours, win or lose.
But the Depth and Radomization of this amazing Rogue-Like will have you play it over and over again, never knowing what to expect or what to find.
The combat is tense and the difficulty curve is fair but unforgiving, as it should be.
This is a rare gem, I have and will spend many hours playing this, trying to unlock every ship and complete absolutely everything.
And even after I am done, I will still come back and play it, just for the fun of it.
