I haven't read warhammer 40,000 literature yet, but this game embodies what this universe feels like in my mind. Ultra violent, relentless and bloody.
This game is inspired by many games from the SNES/Genesis era (metroid mostly and some generic Genesis futuristic platformer shooters whose name I forgot) and tries to do many things in a 2-3 hour package. At its core, it's a free-aim platformer shooter with an insipid story written by bad writers. Feels right for a cheap indie game.
The upgrade mechanism requires grinding these small parts that fly off most enemies. It's quite tedious, but not as much as in other games. Replayability is ushered through upgrading each weapon to its maximum 3rd level and gaining a japanese gaming style SS rank for each of its 5 level (I personally have no interest in getting those).
Some bosses are interesting, some others are frustratingly hard. Even on normal difficulty, you probably will see that game over screen multiple times. It was interesting enough to see it through the end, but won't revisit it. It could be better. Feels like metroid divided by 8 lengthwise and contentwise.
