Good game but they desperately need to have segregated unlocks for different classes like in battlefield. There needs to be some encouragement for medics to actually act as medics instead of just running around with a rifle shooting people. As it stands now, medics are encouraged more to kill than to genuinely fulfill their role and help their team. No matter how many men you save, you never unlock a new attachment for your guns unless you kill a couple hundred guys.

To save and heal one man completely earns you about 800 points. To kill one man with a headshot earns you 600 points. Only one of those lets you unlock the weapon saving attachments, including optics, that you need to turn a bad rifle into a great one.

It's not terrible, and I can't say I don't recommend it but it has serious problems. Strictly less charisma, and generally worse level design. There are so many scenes you probably remember from the original that are just wholly removed, or made less interesting. Every character in the remake is a paler, less charismatic version, every interaction is less interesting. Anyone who says that the characters are better is purely coping.

Probably one of the most frustrating and disappointing games I've ever played. If they cut the budget in half and got their heads out of their asses this could be a much better game. Instead they invested money into making "realistic" animal rotting and 30,000 "random" events that 90% of players will experience. This is having your hand held by an adult, pulled through an art gallery with no intention of letting you see anything on your own. If you don't play how you are told to, you are sent back to the last cutscene and told to do it over. The story isn't some masterpiece like everyone says and I constantly found myself rolling my eyes at different parts of the game.

I very much want to like the game because it is very beautiful, voice acting is great, some of the characters are great, and I find the era to be fascinating, but it falls apart as it is. I would go as far to say that it is unplayable without mods that fix the economy, combat, hunting, and law. Even after adding those mods that doesn't fix the tediousness of the practically on-rails story mode, the awkward and slow/cinematic way your character does things, or the sheer amount of clutter in all departments.

This game has a cult like community that associates any criticism with people who play fortnite. Bringing up that any tension a scene has is immediately dissolved by the fact that you can use deadeye mode to immediately head shot all 4 attackers at any given part, will immediately result in you being labeled as a kid who cannot appreciate a good story! Not to mention the fact that your character can take about two dozen hits before even considering if he should lose health or not. If you think this game might be fun as a fan of more freeform titles, simply watch youtube videos of the gameplay with a critical eye, whenever the game can't force you to do something it wants you to do, you immediately break any part of the game.

While there is plenty more I could say, and I have to friends who asked about it, I can only recommend this game if its on sale at a serious discount, above 50% off. A lot of my hours in game are when I left the game running on my computer, and I only played as long as I did because I was told the story was great, I never could bother with finishing it. I will hold that Red Dead Redemption 1 was a much much better game, despite it having its own issues.

Also cope and sneed, this game requires always online DRM, meaning you can't launch the game without an internet connection and a rockstar account. Requires something like 120 GB on your hard drive.

Very fun simulator game but filled with game breaking bugs. They are making progress on the bugs with just about daily bugfixes but I can't recommend it in its current state. I will update my review when the bugs are fixed.
