The thing is, I WANT to reccommend this game, but I can't.
The reasons; it has a lot of (gamebreaking) bugs and has been abandoned.
I could never finish the game because I experienced a recurring bug at one particular point that I had no way to work around. I did get in contact with the creator, who responded and tried to help me at first, but eventually they just stopped responding and never fixed the issues.
What I DID get to play was magnificent, and I absolutely loved it. The story, the mechanics, the pressure, the soundtrack, I enjoyed it all.
I don't think everybody experiences the impassable bug, so you might be one of the lucky ones, but you'll have to risk it if you buy the game and be prepared to restart over and over again to avoid the ones you do encounter.

So, I bought this game on a whim one day, and it took me a little while to actually sit down and play it.
I wasn't expecting much to be honest, just a nice little game to pass the time.
The little expectations I had got blown out of the water entirely.
TL;DR: :
1.You have to download a third party program to play, but it's not very intrusive, so I barely noticed it.
2. THE GAME IS AMAZING AND BEAUTIFUL AND BEAUTIFUL AND BEAUTIFUL, BUY IT RIGHT NOW. 11/10

Every part of this game comes together as a perfect package with a clear theme, it all fits so incredibly well!
The voice acting for our storyteller is soothing, beautiful and grabs your attention. The dialogue for her (and everyone else really) is simple yet poetic and I really appreciate the rhymes and such which increases the feeling of immersion into this bedtime story world.
The visuals are absolutely stunning, and if you spend enough time in areas and/or are observant enough, you will see background animations that are equally engrossing even though they're just there for exactly that; background that you're not necessarily expected to notice.
The story itself is simple, beautiful and a little "scary" at times, just like a good bedtime story should be.
And the music is perfect for this game, I know I keep using the word beautiful, but that's what this game is, so I'll repeat it; The music is BEAUTIFUL. I also really appreciated the sound effects, like the oddly pleasing sound of our main characters bare feet tapping against the ground when you walk.

Personally, I love turn-based combat which this game uses, I also liked the added "realtime" component of using a helper to slow down/heal which makes you have to strategize quickly about what you want to do.
You can to a certain degree choose how you want to evolve your character(s), do you want to be mage-y or fighter-y?
Choose between playing defensive and offensive, will you focus on boosting your team or jinxing your enemy? Or maybe you'll go all out offensive and choose only fighters and have them use items for HP and boosts when needed? It's up to you.
Not sure I appreciated using the "2 player" mode all the time, (you move one character with the keyboard and a helper with your mouse) but it didn't annoy me either, so it's neither a plus nor a minus.
It IS a minus though that they present it as a 2 player mode kind of thing, it would be incredibly boring for the person playing the helper unless they were usually the kind who preferred watching others play.
Lovely little quest-system, with some optional side-quests that you can do for items.
Crafting of oculi - Meh, felt kind of tiresome and chaotic at times, but at least it's made sort of useful after a while.

All in all the most important part of this game is the story and you really feel like you're in one when you play, and it's a story you're going to want to hear/play again and again for many nights to come.
Also! Plus for awesome female protagonist that's not sexualised in any way but simply amazing.

A very neat game that I really enjoyed.
The main storyline was cool, though not very surprising.
It was a good thing that different characters have different skills, it gives the game a lot more of a replay factor.
The game is also quite short although investigating EVERYTHING will obviously elongate the gameplay time.

Although I enjoy playing the game on my own, I mostly bought it for playing with a friend;
It has an okay multiplayer function, I loved that you can play through the main storyline together although it has some minor issues like the fact that you can't turn off friendly fire and one major; The screen. You share a screen with your fellow player, which means that when I move the screen moves for my friend as well, this might not sound as annoying as it is. You can't predict every move your partner will make.
