At 181 hours in, I think it safe to say that I'm thoroughly enjoying this game.

As a long time gamer, I don't pay much attention to hype, thankfully. I do agree that it may not have been the best idea to have a developer be the spokesperson but in no way do I think he/they lied.

What they have given us is an utterly gorgeous way to spend time. From the intelligent, minimalistic UI to the seamless leaving one world and flying to another (all without a loading screen), to the colourful variety of planet types, flora and fauna, it is something to behold.

No Man's Sky isn't a game to rush through the content seeking the next shiny pixel upgrade and blasting to the finish (as so many gamers do these days). It is a game to relax in. A game, dare I say, to explore. Yes, that is the theme of this game, exploring. I have found my most enjoyable times to be when I use my scanner sparingly and ignore the signal scanners which can point us to places of interest. Manually exploring and discovering is far more fulfilling.

As I have posted on Reddit, I am STILL coming across surprises, and I love that.

They do need to polish up the story a little and refine a few logic flaws, but I'm confident that is coming.

Hello Games have been swift in responding to problems people have had, and the patches have already solved 80% of those reported. And that's within two weeks of the game launching!

I'm looking forward to where the game goes from here, and I shall be along for the ride in my trusty starship.
