Mawman (Zombie):

Once the headcrab and host have become one, the mutations begin to take place. The limbs begin to change shape, with the arms extending and the hands and fingers changing into claws, the internal organs will also change, with all non-essentials dying and de-composing inside the host. When in the mawman stage the mouth of the host is no longer accessible and a new mouth is made in the chest, leading straight into the enlarged stomach the chest cavity grows teeth and can even engage in chewing, although it is not often performed. Instead the mawman rips the meat up using his claws.
Mawmen are entirely predatory, eating meat only, however they are very clumsy predators, slow, stupid and easy to avoid they were dubbed 'Zombies' by the Black Mesa staff. the Mawman is the easiest stage to kill, by shooting the headcrab dead the host will die, and as the Mawman is so slow the shot is relatively easy to make so long as you are not ambushed.
It is only Human mawmen that are so innefective at hunting though, Vortigaunts make better hosts, the headcrabs being designed to take them as there preffered host, are much more familiar with there motor functions, and as such the Mawman Vortigaunt or 'MawVort' is more efficient, not having the traditional limp and still being able to engage in there 'electrical' attack. Mawmen are very good at conserving energy and can last months without sustanence, however this goes against the basic instincts of the creature, which is to feast as much and as often as possible so as to undertake metamorphosis and enter the next stage of the life cycle, that of the Gonome.
Human Mawmen will live up until there late thirties, early fourties. Vortigaunt Mawmen will live up until around middle age.
